FOLIOSMITH HELP

Back to
your book.

A few practical starting points. If you’re still stuck, send WD DIGI a message.

Tell us your FolioSmith version, Windows version, and the steps that led to the issue. A screenshot of the affected control helps. Keep private manuscript text out of screenshots unless you choose to share it.

Support / Feedback

Bring in your manuscript

  1. Open Library and choose Import manuscript (Ctrl+O).
  2. Select a DOCX, Markdown, or plain-text file. Review any import notes about unsupported structures.
  3. Check the chapter list and Book details. Add your author name, description, and optional cover.

Choose a book design

Open Design studio. You can preview all 50 designs. The Classic, Clarity, and Folio are included in free. Applying any of the other 47 requires Pro. Use the family filter to narrow the collection.

Export and keep a backup

Open Export book, review the preflight messages, and choose Export EPUB. Pro also offers print interior PDF. Save a .foliosmith project backup outside app storage before reinstalling, resetting Windows, or moving computers. EPUB and PDF files are finished editions; the project backup retains editable book data.

Restore your Pro purchase

Sign in to the Microsoft Store app with the account that owns FolioSmith Pro. In FolioSmith, open Settings and choose Restore purchase. If the catalog or license cannot be reached, check your connection and try again. The first release’s add-on may be unavailable while the Store submission is still being prepared.

Preview is unavailable

FolioSmith uses Microsoft Edge WebView2 for preview and PDF. Install or repair the WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft, then reopen FolioSmith. Importing, editing, saving, and EPUB export remain local operations.

What import supports

FolioSmith supports chapter text, headings, bold, italic, underline, lists, blockquotes, and scene breaks. JPEG and PNG covers are decoded locally, oriented from EXIF, resized when needed, and stored as PNG. Pro includes 20 editable cover designs. It does not preserve imported table layouts, footnotes, or inline image layouts. Keep the original manuscript when importing.
